Top Application Tips to Shine

With only 200–350 scholarships awarded yearly, competition is fierce. Stand out with these strategies:

  1. Be Honest: Don’t inflate your impact. Focus on realistic contributions to your workplace or community.
  2. Align with One SDG: Show how your work and studies connect to a single SDG, like quality education or climate action. Research your country’s SDG progress for context.
  3. Follow Instructions: Use SI templates and adhere to guidelines. Small errors, like missing stamps, can disqualify you.
  4. Secure Strong References: Build relationships with supervisors for authentic reference letters. Referees with work emails are preferred.
  5. Apply Early: Avoid last-minute portal crashes by submitting ahead of the deadline.

Navigating Life in Sweden: What to Expect

Moving to Sweden is exciting but comes with challenges. Here’s how the SISGP helps you settle in:

Visa & Residence Permit

  • Process: After winning the scholarship, apply for a residence permit via the Swedish Migration Agency. SI’s supporting documents streamline approval.
  • Challenge: Processing times vary, so apply ASAP with a valid passport.

Accommodation

  • Options: Universities offer student housing, but spots are limited. Apply early or explore private rentals.
  • Challenge: Cities like Stockholm and Gothenburg have high demand. Join housing queues upon admission.

Getting Settled

  • Travel Grant: The SEK 15,000 (or SEK 10,000) grant covers flights and initial costs.
  • Challenge: Sweden’s cost of living is high, but the SEK 12,000 stipend is enough with smart budgeting.

Cultural Immersion

Sweden’s egalitarian culture is a refreshing change. You’ll gain new perspectives on inclusivity and sustainability, shaping you into a global citizen.

Make Your Application Stand Out

To beat the competition, try these:

  • Nail Your Motivation Letter: Explain how your master’s builds on your past work and boosts your SDG impact.
  • Showcase Leadership: Highlight specific roles, like leading projects or mentoring teams.
  • Polish Your CV: Use the SI template to tell a cohesive story of your professional journey.
  • Get Feedback: Connect with SI alumni on LinkedIn for application tips.

Your Path to Global Impact

The SISGP isn’t just a scholarship—it’s a launchpad for meaningful careers. By funding your education, living costs, and travel, it lets you study in Sweden, a hub of innovation and sustainability. The SI networks connect you with global change-makers, amplifying your impact long after graduation.
